According to the majority opinion, Congress still has virtually unlimited power. It turns out the source of that unlimited power comes from elsewhere — the power to tax. Barnett’s argument applies here, too. Usually, one has to engage in some kind of action to be taxed. You don’t pay income tax unless you earn income. You don’t pay sales tax unless you buy something. You don’t pay property unless you have purchased property, and so on. Now the Supreme Court rules that Congress can tax people simply for being.

The government now has the authority to tax, not based on income, but on behavior.

It will only be paid for if a committee he can’t control does his bidding, if Congress puts that into law and if leaders in the future - the ones who will feel the fiscal pinch of his proposals - don’t roll it back.

A look at some of Obama’s claims and how they compare with the facts:

In other news a caller from Toledo just informed me that “Georgetown University” is in Washington DC. Thank you lady, I had no idea.

I was thinking the same thing when I heard that this morning.  He hasn’t done anything and nothing has changed.  I don’t get it.  *shrug*  Someone feel free to clue me in on his great accomplishment that would warrant such an honor…
